Addressing & Overcoming Fear
A guided inward exercise on a personal fear. Participants breathe, place their hands over the heart, close their eyes, and identify what they are afraid of — the handbook names rejection, abandonment, betrayal, loss of freedom and not being deserving as prompts — then look at where those fears pull them away from relationships, and work the fear toward something they can act on. Placed in the curriculum as preparation for risk-taking.
Prerequisites
- The handbook has the facilitator say the room is safe before eyes close; that has to be true, not just said
- Naming abandonment or betrayal with eyes closed can reach further than the curriculum intends; a facilitator should be able to stay with strong affect
- Not for a group that cannot leave — the training assumes voluntary participation
