Half the group stands scattered with eyes closed; the others move among them massaging, relay fashion. Nobody standing may be left alone — whoever is spare goes to someone who is working and takes over from them, and that person moves on to relieve somebody else. After a while the two halves swap.
Hold with care
- Hands-on work between participants: ask for consent explicitly rather than reading participation as agreement, and make stopping easy at any point
- Not neutral across bodies, histories or cultures; offer a role that involves no touching and do not ask why it was taken
- The person receiving has their eyes closed and does not know who is working on them or when that changes; that anonymity is the design and needs saying in advance
- The no-one-left-alone rule is the sheet's own and is what makes the arrangement bearable — it needs someone tracking it, which is why this sits at holding 2
