Open Sentences
Pairs sit face to face; one speaks, completing a sentence-stem read aloud by the facilitator ("When I see what's happening to the natural world, what breaks my heart is…"), while the partner listens in complete receptivity — no response, no fixing. Roles swap. Stem sets exist for gratitude, honoring pain, time, and the Great Turning; the form is the same: spontaneous speech into rare listening.
Prerequisites
- Stem choice sets the depth — gratitude stems work with any group; honoring-pain stems belong after the container is built
- The listener's silence is the practice; brief listeners that receiving without reacting IS their role
- Speakers complete only the stems they choose to; silence on a stem is a valid completion
