Myself — My Friend
An opening self-attention exercise for people used to defining themselves by their roles. Participants say the first thing that comes to mind when asked to think about themselves — the handbook expects embarrassment, shyness or fear of judgment, and treats naming that as the work. They are then given explicit permission to spend the next few days thinking about themselves. An optional extension has each person list ten guiding values, cut to five, then to three.
- The handbook warns of resistance where women are taught that attending to themselves is greedy, and suggests a culturally appropriate story to reframe it
