The tagger takes the hand of whoever they catch and the two hunt on together, growing to three; only the outermost hands can tag, since the inner ones are already holding on. When a fourth is caught the chain splits into two pairs, which hunt separately.
Hold with care
- Running and sudden direction changes in a shared space; the usual cautions about floor, footwear and furniture apply and the sheet does not give them
- Running while joined by the hands to two or three other people, at whatever pace the fastest of them sets
- The sheet's own tip answers the hand-holding: a small plastic ring or a piece of cloth that both can hold does the same job, for participants who find holding hands difficult
