Half the group stand scattered across the floor as lighthouses; the other half line up at one end with their eyes closed as boats and have to cross to the far side. The lighthouses guide them by making a pip-pip sound, louder or softer depending on how far off course a boat is, and their job is to make the crossing as safe as possible.

Hold with care
  • A group crossing a room with eyes closed; the lighthouses are both the guidance and the obstacles, since a boat can walk into one
  • Eyes closed rather than blindfolded, which is the better default — the participant stays in control of it
