Interrelational Meditation
Mindfulness extended into relationship: in pairs, participants alternate between eyes-closed contact with their own present experience and open-eyed, non-judgmental seeing of the partner — noticing what arises in themselves while simply being with another person, without conversation. Meditation as a relational, not solitary, practice.
Prerequisites
- Prior solo mindfulness experience helps; frame eye contact as invitation with self-regulated intensity
- Sustained being-seen is intense for many (Inner Pathways' note: allow stepping back); closing eyes anytime is part of the design
- Not an icebreaker — schedule after the group has settled
