Despair Ritual

Disclosure · what is sharedoptional

A communal ritual in which sorrows for the world are spoken archetypally — moving between small groups and the whole circle, voices joined and witnessed — building emotional solidarity out of what is usually carried alone. The WTR library's own note places it beside the Truth Mandala "but with greater intensity": the deepest water in the repertoire.

Prerequisites

  • A group well along the Spiral — gratitude and initial pain-honoring work done
  • Genuinely voluntary; witnessing is full participation
  • Facilitators trained in the WTR lineage and experienced with this specific form
Hold with care
  • Deliberately opens collective despair; the container, timing, and closing carry everything — never improvise this form from a page
  • Not for workplace settings or any group without exit options and aftercare

The directory's second depth-4 record, and its clearest holding-4 case outside clinical work: lineage-specific training as the required competence. Rated for what it opens, not against its worth — in the right container this work is why WTR exists.
