Despair Ritual
A communal ritual in which sorrows for the world are spoken archetypally — moving between small groups and the whole circle, voices joined and witnessed — building emotional solidarity out of what is usually carried alone. The WTR library's own note places it beside the Truth Mandala "but with greater intensity": the deepest water in the repertoire.
Prerequisites
- A group well along the Spiral — gratitude and initial pain-honoring work done
- Genuinely voluntary; witnessing is full participation
- Facilitators trained in the WTR lineage and experienced with this specific form
- Deliberately opens collective despair; the container, timing, and closing carry everything — never improvise this form from a page
- Not for workplace settings or any group without exit options and aftercare
