In a large circle, on each prompt everyone finds the one person for whom it is most true — the person you respect most, feel least connected to, would most like to work with, have a withhold for, are most attracted to — walks over and puts a hand on their shoulder; hands behind the head means sitting this one out. Then look at where the clusters formed and who stands alone. The manual is direct that it is edgy, that people go unchosen, and that it suits long-term groups.

Prerequisites

  • The manual's own: long-term or experienced groups and communities, unless only surface prompts are used
Hold with care
  • Someone will not be chosen, and the manual names the 'popularity' triggers that follow; the facilitator chooses the prompts and therefore how much of that happens
  • Involves a hand on another person's shoulder; the hands-behind-head opt-out covers being touched as well as choosing
