Status Mingle
A cocktail party where half the room plays high status and half plays low, then they swap. The source supplies the physical vocabulary for both — toes turned in, head tilted, hands to the face, following the walls, looking away and back for low; standing steadily, moving smoothly, big open gestures, head still while speaking, taking up space, holding eye contact for high.
- Practising low-status behaviour in a room of people is not neutral for anyone who occupies it involuntarily outside the room; the swap is what makes it an experiment rather than a rehearsal of a position
- The physical list is precise enough to be recognised — people will see their own habits in it, which is the value and also the exposure
