Silent eye contact, then one person speaks for three minutes to something on their heart while the other only listens; the listener says back exactly what they heard, with as little interpretation as they can; the speaker adds or corrects; the listener says what they felt, or what they now get about the speaker. Adapted from Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication — the manual's most simple, deep and reliable exercise, and one it warns professional groups may need more time for.
