The Bartender

The audience is asked to name a personal problem. A scene then plays out to music in which somebody unburdens themselves about that problem to a bartender in a pub — sung, improvised. The bartender answers by improvising a different song to different music.

Hold with care
  • The problem comes from the audience and the source says personal — whoever offers one has disclosed something, and it is then performed back at them as a song
  • How exposing this is depends entirely on what gets offered and whether the room treats it gently; a leader who does not frame that beforehand is leaving it to chance
