The Assumption Surface
A seconds-scale daily micro-practice for Critical Thinking (VCoL collection): When examining a plan or proposal, ask: 'What has to be true for this to work?' Identify 2-3 key assumptions that are not stated explicitly. For each one, consider: Is this assumption valid? What if it is wrong? Practised many times a day, with a brief evening reflection, until the move becomes automatic.
