A group freezes a moment as a tableau, then rebuilds it as the moment just before, then as the moment just after — three still images that imply a story either side of the scene. The sheet then extends it into rehearsal: devise what happened a day or a year before the scene you are working on, and see what that does to the character's motives.

  • The group needs to have worked with tableaux before — the sheet builds on it rather than teaching it
